TRIVENTO means three winds: The Polar, Zonda and Sudestada are the winds that blow across the semi-arid province of Mendoza. Icy and dry, the Polar wind blows in from the South, announcing the onset of winter. The Zonda wind descends from the Andes all year-round, but its frequency peaks toward the end of winter and beginning of spring. Its gusts of hot and dry air improve budding on the vine. The Sudestada wind is the fresh breeze of summer that sometimes turns into storms summer. This ensures equilibrium in the grapes’ metabolism and leads to uniform ripening. Each agitating seasonal wind pierces the intimate calm of Mendoza, and forges true challenges to be overcome.
