This wine showcases fresh and jammy blackberry layered with maple and mocha with hints of cedar, clove and black pepper. There are oak aromas supported by rich dark fruit. It makes an excellent complement to grilled meats, spicy pasta sauces or with a hearty after dinner cheese.
Cabernet Sauvignon has been grown in California since the 1880’s and quite possibly even earlier. The variety is now cultivated widely throughout much of the state with different regions yielding wines that incorporate local weather and soil conditions as part of their flavor palate. Vineyards in California’s Lodi area, the primary source of the 2008 vintage, enjoy warm daytime temperatures and cooling influences at night—a classic pattern that balances into an ‘ideal’ average throughout the season. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes ripen at a comfortable pace under such conditions, using any extra hang time afforded them to further concentrate flavor and character.
